Recycled Clothing
A new style of clothing has come out known as recycled clothing. Created with anywhere from 50 to 100% recycled materials, nike aims to eliminate waste in their "Move to Zero" approach. The journey to zero carbon and zero waste is nike's goal for the near future. This challenge will force nike to uphold its high quality and standards with completely new and recycles materials. A new project Nike is undertaking is the creation of fully recycled sportswear for athletes to endorse and wear. Not only will this help with sales, it will also forward Nike's intiative in drastically reducing its carbon footprint and switching to one hundred percent renewable energy by the year 2025.
Not only is Nike undertaking such a difficult task of creating recycled clothing, but as is Adidas. While Nike focuses on obtaining materials from ladfills, Adidas aims to get their materials from the oceans in partnership with Parley for the Oceans. One clothing in particular which uses 45 percent recycled polyester has the same look as Adidas's iconic tracksuits and jump suits. Adidas now has three different categories of materials used in their products. One of which is "PRIMEGREEN" which is indicates that the product is made with recycled materials. The second category is "PRIMEBLUE" which indicates that the product was made with parley ocean plastic. Lastly, Adidas has come out with a "VEGAN" category which gives the customers and animal-free alternative.
